The whirring sounds and bright lights of carnival rides might evoke a memory of an oceanside boardwalk, county fair, or church festival. Carnival rides represent a thrilling escape from the daily grind, so they’re typically decked out in playful graphics that enhance the ride experience.

For a project commissioned by Wisdom Rides, a builder of moveable amusement rides, Denver-based PSP Ink Monstr got to work creating colorful graphics for a ride with a Hawaiian island theme. The shop printed the graphics, with careful attention to color matching, for the entire ride and operator’s booth using an HP Latex 570 printer.

The production team had to painstakingly weed out each hole for the individual marquee-style lights on the side of the ride. The install proved challenging because of the intricate creases and seams on the structure. The end product was a whimsical, tropical look for the carnival ride.
