'Tribune' Flies Giant Victory Banner

Cubs win means a rush job for Retail First.

After the Cubs ended a 108-year drought with a World Series victory in Cleveland, the Chicago Tribune wanted to join the chorus of #FlytheW that was ringing through the city. The paper commissioned a victory banner for the Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue from local print shop Retail First. The shop didn’t receive artwork until after the game ended in the wee hours of the morning of November 3, but the 20 x 40-foot banner was hung just 24 hours later. Retail First printed on a Vutek GS3250 LX onto Milano mesh. The graphic was sewn down the middle and across the bottom by Quick Stitch Banners. Then, six installers completed the three-hour install on the tower.
