INTERIOR DÉCOR TRENDS come and go, but for right now, plain white walls are out and one-of-a-kind designs that showcase personality are in.

A quick online search confirms that people are leaning into “dopamine décor:” creating spaces that make those who live there happy — thanks to bold colors, graphic wallpapers, and unique artisan touches. There are plenty of mass-produced funky prints and wallpapers available online, but some homeowners and renters seek décor that simply can’t be found anywhere else; good news for PSPs offering custom wall graphics and murals!

One such client turned to Columbus, OH, mural artist Artisan Rooms for help elevating a tiny, 150-square-foot bathroom into a botanical paradise featuring dogs and David Bowie. How’s that for bespoke? Artisan Rooms employed the help of local PSP Atchley Graphics to “turn and face the strange” for this unique request.

The job presented a few interesting challenges, from the very particular design requests that had to be incorporated into the wallcovering pattern to “the small-scale space with which to work inside, let alone photograph,” says Derek Atchley, CEO/founder, Atchley Graphics.

Up to the challenge, Atchley Graphics worked with Artisan Rooms to craft an intricate design featuring gorgeous florals and botanical elements, colorful birds and hidden mushrooms, and vintage-inspired “framed photographs” of music icon David Bowie and adorable pooches. The print shop output the custom design onto Dreamscape Suede wallcovering with an EFI Pro 16h hybrid press, finishing with a Summa F1832 flatbed cutter.

“The uniqueness and complexity of the intricacy of the design lends itself to pushing the boundaries of the media and the space it was installed in,” says Atchley. “Small graphics, big impact!
