Summer Publishing Workshops on Design

Simon Fraser University at Harbour Centre in Vancover, British Columbia will offer several Summer Publishing Workshops focusing upon design. The workshops will include:

Introduction to InDesign CS: A two-day workshop in which participants will learn how to set up publications, import graphics and text, edit graphics in InDesign, make complex tables, apply typographic control, and more. Offered July 4-5 and July 21-22. Fee: $420 CDN, includes course materials.

Adobe Photoshop CS: Day one of this workshop is devoted to the basics of Photoshop, including how to import graphics, work with palettes, make selections, adjust values, manipulate layers, etc. Day two focuses on more-advanced techniques, including filters, masks, channels, photo retouching, and color correction. July 6-7. Fee: $420 CDN, includes course materials.

Introduction to QuarkXPress 6.5: Covers setting up publications, importing graphics and text, using custom colors, text wrapping, style sheets, master pages, tricks and shortcuts, and more. July 8-9. Fee: $420 CDN, includes course materials.

Introduction to Adobe Illustrator CS: An introduction to Illustrator's basics, focuses upon the program's core functions. July 11. Fee: $275 CDN, includes course materials.

Introduction to Adobe Acrobat Pro: One day workshop that covers creating PDF documents and forms for electronic distribution. July 12. Fee: $275 CDN, includes course materials.

Digital Photography: The basics of getting the most from your digital camera, plus how to use Adobe Photoshop CS to color correct, adjust, and manipulate images. Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras. July 13. Fee: $275 CDN, includes course materials.
