Environmental Graphics: Demystifying Medical Marijuana

When Westwind Design Group purchased their first wide-format printer less than a year ago, they quickly put the machine to work: Their first job was a 54-foot trailer wrap.

“After we did that, we felt we can pretty much do anything in-house,” says Ryan Pearse, designer for the spatial design company. Westwind has been in business for roughly 40 years, providing environmental design services for museums and interpretive centers, and is now expanding into retail spaces, wayfinding, and more. Graphics are just the icing on the cake for Westwind clients; the firm helps create anything from custom shelving to smartphone apps.

The company recently worked with a new cannabis clinic, Harvest Medicine in Calgary, Canada. The clinic works with patients to see if medical cannabis is right for them, an experience which is likely foreign to many of its visitors. Westwind designed a reception area filled with infographics dispelling common myths, outlining usage methods, and sharing other educational tidbits. The murals were printed on a Roland TrueVis VG-540 onto Avery Dennison MPI 2120 vinyl and laminated with Avery Dennison DOL 1080Z.
