In a recent study from the Photo Marketing Association (PMA), the group reports that demand for digital cameras was up 17% in August of 2005. Overall, camera growth (digital and analog) was up 9.3% that month, with digital cameras continuing to dominate the current market.

Other report findings:
— At least one out of every two digital cameras sold in August was of 5 megapixels or more.
— The entry-level for new camera buyers has shifted to the 5 “? 5.9 megapixel range; this range also represents the greatest share in sales (39%).
— Average price points on digital cameras “have retreated slightly.”

The information was gathered via NPDTechworld (www.npdtechworld.com), Port Washington, NY.

The PMA report also hits on digital printing sales, film-processing volume, processing by channel, and more.
