Here’s a few useful lines for those inevitable public speaking disasters.

WHY? Because, when you’re up on stage, so many things can go wrong and you need to be prepared.

EXAMPLE ONE: Microphone malfunctions and lets out an agonizing screech of feedback? Look at it and say, “I don’t understand. I brushed my teeth this morning.”

EXAMPLE TWO: Tell a joke and no one laughs? Say “That joke was designed to get a silent laugh … (pause) … and it worked.”

EXAMPLE THREE: Get a question you can’t (or don’t) want to answer? Answer “Could you save that question until I’m finished – and well on my way home?”
