If restaurateurs can bring their food to the streets and set up shop in a truck, why can’t boutique owners? Well they can, and that’s exactly what Smak Parlour has done.

After learning about the mobile shop trend in LA, the owners of the funky women's wear boutique in Old City, Philadelphia, decided to take their brand on the road and create a store on wheels – an 18-foot-long converted box truck complete with French doors and a dressing room inside.

BFFs and owners Abby Keffler and Katie Lubiesk were able to easily fill the truck with their glam clothing, accessories, and house ware – all they needed was a vehicle wrap that would stand out on the street and match their trendy brick-and-mortar store. They called up designer Dave Holley to create the graphics; he then sent his hard copy of the collage-style design to Brands Imaging (www.brandsimaging.com) in Philadelphia for printing and install.

The 3M-Certified company used its Mimaki JV-33160 solvent printer with Mimaki inks to output about 400 square feet of material in 50-inch horizontal panels. “We use our solvent machine for all our wraps and exterior,” says Brett Brand of Brands Imaging. The printing took two hours.

The graphics were printed onto 3M Controltac Graphic Film with Comply v3 Adhesive IJ180C-V3, and the shop’s GBC laminator was used to create the glossy finish with 3M 8518 gloss laminate. The installation of the final 25 x 100-foot graphics took two installers four hours.
