R Tape Corporation has introduced 10-mil top-coated Claritex polycarbonate films for eco-solvent inkjet printers. Available in clear and white, both films feature a specially formulated ink-receptive coating that controls dot gain for high-resolution reproduction, permits printing of heavy ink saturation, and accelerates drying times. Both exhibit good lay-flat characteristics, which help prevent edge curl as well as head strikes during printing, the company reports.

The clear Velvet/Polish version of the film is top coated on the polish side for subsurface printing in reverse with eco-solvent inkjet printers. It’s suitable for backlit applications and graphic overlay panels.

The 95% opaque white Velvet/Matte film is top coated on the matte side and provides the hiding power needed when the film is used for tradeshow panels and retractable banner stands.

The new films can be printed using these printers and OEM inks: Epson Stylus Pro Series printers using UltraChrome GS inks; Mimaki JV3, JV33, and JV5 printers using ES3 inks; Mutoh ValueJet printers using Eco-Ultra inks; and Roland VersaCamm VP-300 and VP-540 and SolJet PRO III XC-540 printers using Eco-Sol Max inks.
The films are available in 30-, 54-, and 60-in. widths, in 30- and 60-ft rolls.
