Mutoh America has broadened its printer portfolio by adding the ValueJet 1618A  to its printer lineup and also has introduced its own line of media.

The ValueJet 1618A is an upgrade of the ValueJet 1618 model that was launched last year (but not being sold in the US). The new 1618A is a 4-color (CMYK), 64-inch, dual-head printer (180 nozzles x eight lines) that boasts 12 printing modes and speeds of up to 480 square feet/hour in production mode with a maximum resolution of 1440 dpi.
 

Using Mutoh’s Eco-Ultra Ink (1000-ml ink packs), the 1618A can print directly onto full-color posters, banners, backlit panels, POS displays, signs, and stickers. It features Mutoh’s Interweaving Print Technique (i2) technology, designed to eliminate banding, as well as individually controlled pre-, post-, and platen heaters. The unit can handle a maximum roll-media weight of 67 pounds and media up to 2.5 mm thick.

The printer is also available as a ValueJet 1618A-HD model, which includes a heavy-duty take-up system that holds up to 220 pounds of media for longer unattended printing capability.

In addition, Mutoh has debuted its own Mutoh Media line of vinyls and banners. Tested, optimized, and especially recommended for the ValueJet 1618 (using Eco Ultra Inks) and ValueJet 1608 Hybrid Printer (using Mubio Inks), the media line is also compatible with all Mutoh printers. The line currently includes four banner media (smooth, smooth DS, matte/gloss scrim) and four vinyl media (matte/gloss permanent and matte/gloss removable). Widths typically range from 30 to 64 inches.
