Super-wide photo mural honors cancer survivors.

When the ladies of Bighorn “Behind a Miracle” (BAM), a Coachella Valley, California-area philanthropy that raises money to promote breast-cancer awareness and has ties to the area’s Bighorn Golf Club, teamed up with the Westfield Palm Desert shopping mall to honor breast-cancer survivors in the community, the result was larger than life: a 12 x 38-foot photo mural of BAM members, sporting the trademark pink of the breast-cancer movement.

The mural, which hangs in a high-traffic area near the mall’s food court, was created by Signarama in Palm Desert.

“We acquired the job via an inquiry from TLA Consulting, which acted as the liaison and facilitator between Westfield Palm Desert and the Bighorn Golf Club,” says Signarama project manager Kim Sanson.

Photographer Pam Lassy of Lassy Photo Design provided digital files to Signarama. For output, Sanson and crew used the shop’s 100-inch Mutoh ValueJet 2604 with SAi FlexiPrint SE RIP, printing onto Sign-Mart Permagloss vinyl with Mutoh solvent inks.

The project required more than 480 square feet of vinyl and took about six hours to print. A two-person crew from Signarama spent three hours in late February installing the job, just in time to promote BAM’s major fundraising events, including a March 12 Launch Party and its annual golf tournament in mid-April.
