To dovetail with London hosting the2012 Olympic Summer Games, UK-based photographers Drew Gardner and Lucinda Marland (www.drew.it, www.lucindamarland.com) spent the past two years completing a visual anthology of every living British Olympic gold medalist in an individual sport, 60 years or older. The duo traveled more than 15,000 miles across the UK and as far as the US West Coast to photograph all 14 athletes. The resulting printed images were showcased at London’s John Lewis department store in Westfield Stratford City, overlooking the Olympic site. Output was by Velmex Distribution, onto Canon 300-gsm Glacier paper using a 44-inch Canon imageProGraf iPF8300 with Lucia pigment inks, then mounted onto 3A Composites’ Foam-X board. Velmex, John Lewis, and Manfrotto were project sponsors. Above: David Hemery, winner of the 400-meter hurdles, 1968 Summer Olympics.
