It's important to note that the term “solvent” describes a wide range of products, ranging from versatile, long-life inks that are classified as hazardous to newer generations of milder formulations that produce less obnoxious odors and require different types of ventilation systems. Some solvent-based inks are classified as hazardous materials and require extra precautions and expense in handling and shipping. Other solvent-based inks are nonhazardous and nonflammable and don't require special transport and storage.
