Into Orbit

K6 Media in Ottawa, Canada, recently completed one of the largest installations in the north. The project involved wrapping four satellite antennas, which measured 50 feet in diameter each, at the Inuvik Satellite Station Facility in Inuvik, a town in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The satellites needed a makeover, so “local artists created artwork to represent each Indigenous group in Inuvik, which includes the Gwich’in, Inuvialuit, and Métis, along with a design from students at East Three Secondary School and one from the town,” says Christian Lavergne, owner and creative director, K6 Media. The paintings were scanned then printed via the shop’s two HP latex 570 printers onto 3M self-adhesive vinyl and laminated with a SEAL 62 wide-format heat assist roll laminator. “Our team then traveled to Inuvik from Ottawa to wrap these 50-foot dishes with the amazing artwork they now display,” says Lavergne. “We are honored to have had the opportunity to embark on this adventure.”
