InteliCoat Purchased by Exopack

InteliCoat Technologies has been purchased by Exopack Advanced Coatings, a manufacturer and supplier of precision coated papers, films, and specialty substrates for imaging, electronic, medical, optical, and security technologies. The InteliCoat Technologies company name will be phased out over the coming months, but Exopack reports that it intends to keep all of InteliCoat’s Magic, Magiclée, Museo, and JetSet offerings, consisting of the same base papers and coating processes. In addition, the InteliCoat brands will continue to be sold through the current distribution channel of Magic brand dealers; InteliCoat’s sales, marketing, and customer-service team will remain in Massachusetts.

“With 50 years of designing and engineering coatings and coating processes, Exopack Advanced Coatings is uniquely qualified to grow the inkjet-media business further,” says David Neal, president of Exopack. “InteliCoat’s intellectual property, marketing and branding competencies, combined with Exopack Advanced Coatings’ precision coating expertise and multitude of coating assets, will definitely give us the opportunity to expand our role in the digital-imaging market.”

In a press release, the companies noted that “the InteliCoat and Exopack Advanced Coatings teams have an extensive and positive history of cooperation and will continue to work together to bring a number of advantages, including: improved product development; access to pilot and scale up equipment; products qualified on more machines; and an infrastructure to improve logistics and service.”

“We see InteliCoat’s sale to Exopack as the next logical step to ensuring the continued growth of our Magic, Magiclée, Museo, and JetSet brands,” says Ed McCarron, director of sales and marketing at InteliCoat. “We are confident that Exopack Advanced Coatings’ technical and manufacturing know-how will enhance the long-standing commitment to excellence InteliCoat has delivered throughout its history.”

Exopack Advanced Coatings has two ISO-certified manufacturing facilities in Europe and the USA, both having multiple coating lines, cleanrooms, and laboratories. It has 250 employees split between its facilities in the UK, USA, and China.

Exopack Advanced Coatings is part of Exopack Holdings SA, which is the combination of Sun Capital Partners, Inc.-owned companies Britton Group, Kobusch, PACCOR, and Paragon Print & Packaging.
