To generate buzz for its inaugural season, the
Ottawa Fat Cats—a semi-professional baseball
team in Ontario’s Intercounty Baseball
League—partnered last May with k6 Media,
Inc. (k6media.com) to create an eye-catching
wrap for the team’s bus.

“We had the opportunity to transform
the coach from an older looking, aged bus
to a moving billboard for the team,” says
Tristan Hanington, partner at Ottawa-based
k6 Media.

Design work for the bus, which sits in a
high-traffic location outside Ottawa Baseball
Stadium when it’s not being used to transport
players to and from games throughout
the province, was done in-house by k6’s
creative team. The design features the team’s
logo and mascot—a grinning fat cat—decked
out in a feline baseball jersey and imposed on
a vibrant red background.

Images were output onto Avery MPI 1005
Supercast Vinyl using the company’s 64-inch
rolled Mutoh ValueJet 1604, then finished
with Avery’s 1060 Gloss overlaminate.
The firm’s designers “had fun creating
the wrap for the bus and embraced the Fat
Cats branding,” says Hanington, who notes
that installation of the job was as exciting
as the design and output. “After a very long
day, few breaks, and a lot of concentration
on detail, we watched the bus roll out of the
shop with a big smile on our faces.”
