Pantone has chosen its 2017 Color of the Year: Greenery. The yellow-green hue, Pantone 15-0343, was chosen “to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape,” says Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman in a release.

Pantone calls the color an innovative and “life-affirming shade” that “speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment, and reinvent,” adds Eiseman.

The company’s annual choice of a symbolic color tends to impact designers from industries including home décor, architecture, beauty, food and beverage, and graphic design. Past shades include:

Rose Quartz and Serenity (2016)
Marsala (2015)
Radiant Orchid (2014)
Emerald (2013)
Tangerine Tango (2012)
Honeysuckle (2011)
• Turquoise (2010)
• Mimosa (2009)
• Blue Iris (2008)
• Chili Pepper (2007)
