Browse the catalog of most display manufacturers and you’re sure to find the standard fare. But such “standard fare,” even with the most spectacular integrated graphic, may not truly help your client’s message stand out in a sea of banner stands, lightboxes, and otherwise vanilla offerings. The trick is to find a combination of graphic and display that will grab the attention of your client’s customers while not blowing out their budget or your margins.

To help, we’ve gathered a sampling of displays from around the marketplace: from banner stands that are more environmentally friendly to exhibit systems that are easier to use and transport, to new shapes and sizes and one-of-a-kind displays for the customer who wants it all. No matter what kind of display you and your client opt for, keep in mind that it is an essential part of the perfect signage equation.

The Best of Both Worlds
A lightbox can usually draw the attention of passersby. A looping video, if placed in the right setting, can guide onlookers through demonstrations, commercials, or films. This logic is what leads Bowman Displays to believe that passersby will stop and stare at its Digital Video Lightbox, a hybrid unit that incorporates an LCD screen (or multiple screens) into its Ultra Thin Snap Frame Display.

Customers have the option of choosing a Digital Video Lightbox with slideshow or video capabilities on a 7- or 15-inch LCD screen. A dual-screen Digital Video Lightbox is also available. The digital slideshow data is fed through a data card, and the Digital Video Lightbox has a DVD player. Displays are available with or without sound.

As with the Ultra Thin Snap Frame Display, the Digital Video Lightbox comes with a silver aluminum snap frame for front-loading graphics. Sizes vary from 24 x 30 and 24 x 36 to 32 x 40 and 40 x 50 inches. Each lightbox is 2.9-inches deep and includes a programmable remote control, heavy-duty D hooks for hanging, and a clear nonbreakable APET lens. The Digital Video Lightbox is UL-listed.

A Green Twist on Lit
Earlier this year, Drytac released its offerings for the “green” customer: two banner-stand options-the retractable Panda Stand and the Panda L-Stand-made almost entirely of bamboo. The company has now added a Panda literature stand, also made from bamboo, to its environmentally friendly line.

The Panda literature stand weighs approximately five pounds, and its face measures 53 x 20 inches. Eight black canvas pockets hold a one-inch stack of 8.5 x 11-inch literature in front. The literature stand rolls up for easy transport and comes with a cotton carrying bag.

Just as with the company’s earlier bamboo products, although the newest addition is affectionately named after the bamboo-loving bear, Drytac’s Panda products are made from plantation-grown bamboo, which is not part of the Giant Panda’s natural diet.

Tunneling for Success
Want a way to attract even more attention to an outdoor event? Try the DisplayTunnel from Expand Media.

Measuring 2213/16 x 247/16 x 783/4 inches (h x w x l), the DisplayTunnel combines fabric graphics with a spring construction to provide a display option ideal for sporting events, grand openings, charity happenings, and more. Ground stakes (six are provided) can be used to prevent the DisplayTunnel from overturning in windy conditions and for stability on surfaces such as snow or grass; the stakes are inserted into the loops that are sewn onto the fabric.

The spring construction allows for easy setup (it actually unfolds itself, reports Expand) and disassembly is simple. If desired, the media may remain in place while the display is folded down into the bag (included) for transport.

Weight: 15 pounds, including frame, graphic panel, and bag.

Small Footprint, Many Options
The Duo.Mercure Totem fits a plethora of accessory options into a small space.

The Totem itself is available in lengths of 39, 47, 78, and 94 inches, with the four-sided aluminum pole sitting atop a black, steel, or natural stable base. It can accommodate a 20-inch two-sided banner (or multiple banners); accessories, mounted with a T-nut and T-bolt attachment system, can be added onto any of the Totem’s four sides and at any height. Possible additions include: a media player or computer monitor, a product-sample shelf, a literature dispenser, lights, and more.

The Totem is just one of the many configurations possible with the Duo.Mercure system.

Customized Brand Building
Testrite offers one-of-a-kind display systems to those customers interested in true brand recognition, using Brand-A-Stand. By using its in-house laser-cutting capabilities, Testrite enables shops to add signature logos, letters, shapes, or names to the banner stand or sign stand of their choice. Needless to say, these pieces really stand out. Laser-cut bases are the most popular, the company reports, although name plaque headers are also available.

Testrite can produce base pieces or headers measuring up to 4 x 8 feet (1/4-inch thickness maximum for acrylic or steel; 3/4-inch maximum for wood). Virtually any color is available (including most PMS-specified colors), the company reports, because metals are powder coated according to customer orders. Custom telescopic pole assemblies are also available.

Three Sides Now
Expect plenty of graphics to go ’round with Vista Systems’ Triangular Pylon. The system is available in various heights and in widths from 4 to 40 inches; plus, clients can choose from three standard finishes: brushed aluminum, gold, and black.

The Pylon’s frame system and the company’s Vista Key suction cup allow end users to integrate and switch out various substrates, including vinyl, metal, plastic, or paper. A clear nonglare lens (provided) can be placed over paper graphics or used as a substrate. Five different end caps are offered; bases are available for permanent and portable applications.

Giving the Message Some Curve
For graphics that are better served by shape as well as movement, Clearr Corporation has evolved its prismatic display into the curvy Triola Radius with a nonlinear face.

As with the standard Triola, the Radius utilizes PVC or aluminum blades in conjunction with a drive mechanism to create a “wave” effect that smoothly transforms three successive images.

The Radius system is available in concave or convex forms, allowing for custom shapes and combinations. In addition to full circles and ovals, shape options include the asteroid, the spiral section, letters, and numbers.

The largest sizes offered are 14 x 48 feet and 7 x 72 feet. Frames are available in silver, black, or white standard colors; custom paint colors are also available.

The Complete Package Deal
We like how Paradigm Imaging has packaged its Booth-In-A-Box combo, taking its cue from the “bed in a bag” combination that has worked so well for softgoods suppliers in the past; customers often prefer to simply get everything at once, letting the supplier assemble all the necessary components.

The company’s Booth-In-A-Box is a complete package designed for ease and convenience on the customer end. It includes a single self-locking popup frame, two coal fabric end panels, two halogen lights, a single case conversion skirt, three graphic panels, and two Netrack brochure stands. The panels, in total, measure 90.5 x 121.62 inches. The package, once assembled, will fit in any 8- or 10-foot booth, Paradigm reports.
