Educators/Associations Day at GRAPH EXPO 14

GRAPH EXPO 14 coming together with co-show CPP EXPO to Chicago's McCormick Place, September 28 – October 1, 2014, will welcome the first ever co-located Educators/Associations Day on Wednesday, October 1, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm in room S104b of McCormick Place South. Free and open to all show visitors, this novel event will share current and vital information about the future of graphic communication education and prospects for the industry's future workforce.

According to program coordinator Harvey Levenson, Cal Poly Professor Emeritus and Director of the Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly (GrCI), “This is a much needed forum that is dedicated to sessions of interest to graphic communication educators and association leaders alike.” Levenson continued, “A special program highlight will be a viewing of the updated one-hour movie documentary, 'Harvest of Wisdom.' For those who never saw the original version, it is a 'must-see' that will deliver an unforgettable perspective on the significance of the printing industry-past, present and future.”

The program agenda follows:

8:00 AM – 9:30 AM “Keeping Print Relevant among 'Younger' People”

Session Leader: Joe Polanco, President, PIA MidAmerica The results of a study on future graphic communication employees will delve into how we continue to keep print relevant in an “electronic” world, and how do graphic communications associations and schools engage “younger” people?

9:30 AM – 9:45 AM Networking Break

9:45 AM – 11:15 AM Movie Documentary: “Harvest of Wisdom”

Session Leaders: Joe Polanco, President, PIA MidAmerica; Jerry Waite, Professor, University of Houston; Phil Snyder, Assistant Professor, University of Houston and President, KAZAP Corp.

Together we will trace the evolution of graphic communication from the dawn of civilization to present time.

11:15 AM – 1:00 PM

Show floor tour of Education Main Street pavilion. Here representatives from colleges, universities and educational organizations provide information on curriculum offerings, scholarships-and talented, skilled students seeking internships! With GRAPH EXPO Career Awareness Day held today, joining program participants on the show floor will be students from area high schools who will come to explore the latest industry technologies and unique new applications.
