Display Werks now offers a 40-in. AMLCD (active matrix liquid crystal display), one of the largest currently in production. The company is marketing this specifically to the digital signage industry as a cost-effective alternative to plasma technology.

“Our large-format display rivals plasma technology in picture quality and most importantly longevity,” said Mark Harriman, president of Display Werks. “Because these displays use liquid crystal technology, they consume less power, have a longer back-light life, and are not as prone to image burn-in like plasma displays.”

The new displays offer a 40-in. diagonal viewing area with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, and 420 nits brightness. The display can be used in portrait and landscape mode and can support multiple video inputs. One version will include a built-in PC for networking and running local client applications.

In addition, Display Werks is offering a wall mount bracket, a full wall enclosure, and a portrait mode freestanding enclosure which can house a PC. The list price for the display is about $6000.

Display Werks Inc. designs and manufactures flat-panel LCD displays for a variety of applications including high-end home control, commercial, industrial, retail, and kiosk applications. (Display Werks Inc.: 877-705-1319; www.displaywerks.com)
