Contex has acquired the Scanner Distribution Division of IDEAL, Contex’s largest US-based distributor of wide-format scanning and imaging solutions. The move is designed to provide stronger and more direct support to business partners, distributors, and dealers in the North and South American market, Context reports. The company also expects the acquisition to expand its market leadership and increase its distribution base in the North and South American market.

“Ideal has been a valued Contex partner for many years, with more than 4000 mutual customers and a sales force that already works closely with ours,' says Niels Appel, executive VP of sales and marketing for Contex A/S. 'This transaction advances our ability to deliver top service, top value, and top knowhow to our end-customers and distribution partners in the Americas wide-format scanning market.'

Contex, founded in 1923, is based in Denmark and has US offices in Virginia; the company has 250 employees worldwide. Earlier this year, the company launched its new HD series of scanners, including seven wide-format scanners as well as a flatbed model.
