WIT (Wireless Image Transfer) is an image-transfer
technology for digital cameras
from Concord Camera. This pocket-sized 2
x 2-in. Wi-Fi device allows users to plug it
into a camera's USB port and transmit
images wirelessly over the
Internet. It transmits using
the 802.11b standard for
compatibility with all Wi-Fi
hot spots and base stations,
as well as the 802.11-g
standard for faster Wi-Fi
transmissions.

WIT, says Concord Camera,
is 1500 times faster than
current GSM (GPRS) networks
“?a 4-Mpxl image
transfers in 0.1 sec. There is no limit to the
amount of data transmitted and WIT works
with all cameras with USB mass storage. It
does not erase the camera memory after
transmission.

Currently it is a standalone prototype,
but Concord is also investigating integrating
the WIT module into selected cameras.
Price will be announced at PMA in 2005,
but is expected to be $200 or less. (Concord Camera: www.concord-camera.com)
