In an effort to popularize public transportation in the area, the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works launched the Transit Loves the Arts competition in the fall of 2016. More than 200 wrap designers and artists drew up plans for full bus wraps that would celebrate the spirit of Miami and attract the eye of tourists.

Five winning teams – including Nathan Delinois (Nate Dee), Hector Andrade (Hec One Love), Daniel Fila (Krave Art), and Laz Ojalde and Natalie Zlamalova (Amlgmatd) – won a cash prize and saw their designs displayed on public buses around the city.

Dream Design Miami’s Carlos Alvarez and Dream Design Studio’s Fernando Spolita collaborated on the fifth winning entry, a vibrant design with dolphins, abstract art, and the words “Transit Loves the Arts” splashed across the exterior of the bus. The wrap was printed on an HP Designjet L26500 printer with Orajet 3651 gray-based vinyl. It took a team of four about five hours to install the 590-square-foot wrap.
