Stopping for gas and a cup of coffee on a long road trip is practically tradition. You fill your tank at the gas pump and head into the convenience store for a snack and a caffeine boost to carry you through your travels (or at least that’s what the convenience store hopes you’ll do). Inside, colorful graphics touting the beverage options available can draw customers to pour themselves a cup of joe – and potentially prevent a second stop at the pricey coffeehouse down the street.

BPI Media Group – which offers offset, digital toner, and wide-format printing from its 63,000-square-foot Boaz, Alabama, facility – printed coffee-bean-centric graphics for its client, a coffee and tea producer.

BPI Media Group (bpimediagroup.com) – which offers offset, digital toner, and wide-format printing from its 63,000-square-foot Boaz, Alabama, facility – printed coffee-bean-centric graphics for its client, a coffee and tea producer. This ongoing, multilocation project utilizes BPI Media Group’s customizable storefront portal, which addresses a general push by print customers to receive their graphics quickly without having to keep anything in stock. The coffee and tea producer’s sales reps visit each convenience store location to measure the walls and then input the sizes into the portal using a tablet from the field. The software sizes the graphics to fit the space. Once the order arrives at BPI, they have 48 hours to print and ship out the project, which goes directly to the retail location for installation. “Now there is no inventory (saving our client upfront cost and storage) and we print on demand,” says Alan Davis, BPI Media Group president. “We were able to save them 25 percent of their print budget from the previous year with the portal.”

For the convenience store pictured, BPI used a Durst Rho P10 250 HS Plus to output the client-provided artwork onto styrene for the 4 x 4.5-foot back wall display, RTape LumaPrint for the backlit graphics on the beverage dispensers, and 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film IJ35 for the wraps on the coffee urns.
