Wasatch Computer Technology has released Wasatch SoftRIP Light 5.1.2, the newest edition of its SoftRIP Light. A “personal use” version of the company's flagship print-management software, SoftRIP Light can drive two output devices simultaneously, right out of the box. Although it's designed for low-volume production environments, says Wasatch, it includes all of the color quality and hardware flexibility of its full SoftRIP product.

In addition, SoftRIP Light can implement print-and-cut workflows with the optional Contour Cutting add-on. Compatible with cutting plotters from Roland, Mimaki, and Graphtec, the Contour Cutting option allows users to prepare cutting files in applications such as Illustrator, CorelDraw, or QuarkXpress, and then name them as spot colors; when file are output to SoftRIP, the shape paths are automatically cut on the plotter.

SoftRIP Light 5.1.2 price: $1595, including 90 days of free support and a 60-day guarantee. Contour Cutting option is $250 additional. SoftRIP Light users can later upgrade to the full SoftRIP product and receive 100% credit for the price of SoftRIP Light. (Wasatch Inc: www.wasatchinc.com)
