The Big Picture has been honored by the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) in the society's 30th Annual Awards Competition. The Big Picture has won two awards of excellence, one for editorial work and one for design, including:

* Case History, for 'A Hall of Fame Homer,' which appeared in the magazine's January 2007 issue. The feature article, written by Kacey King, details the wide-format graphics work that Cincinnati-based Digital Lab Imaging and a host of other graphics firms executed for the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Museum.

* Front Cover – Photo, for 'Out-of-Home Makes a Splash,' which ran as the magazine's December 2007 cover. The photograph showcased the 'faux catastrophe' print work of Commerce Color in St. Louis, which worked with Orange Barrel Media, ad agency T:m, and client Nationwide Insurance to make a memorable statement with a wallscape campaign depicting what appears to be spilled paint flowing from the graphic onto the street and vehicles below. The cover was designed by Art Director Jaxon Cook; the article, by Associate Editor Clare Baker, profiled eight high-profile outdoor-advertising print jobs from around the country.

'Winning these awards points to the solid work that our editors and designers do on a day-in and day-out basis,' says Gregory Sharpless, Editor/Associate Publisher of The Big Picture. 'The 'Hall of Fame' article showcased diligent work by the writer, art director, and editorial staff to not only get the basics of the story, but also the intricate details–and present them in such a way that the reader feels he/she is actually at the Hall.

'The 'Out-of-Home' cover,' continues Sharpless, 'was one we received dozens of comments on from around the marketplace that we cover. When we got the image, we knew it had 'cover' written all over it, and it would have been unthinkable to not run it.'

Founded in 1964, the American Society of Business Publication Editors (www.asbpe.org) is the professional association for fulltime and freelance editors and writers employed in the business-to-business, trade, and specialty press. This year's Annual Awards competition drew more than 2300 entries. Editorial awards are based on quality of writing, reporting and editing; development of the subject; presentation, and value to readers; design awards are based upon layout and composition; use of typography, graphics and photography; content; originality; relevance to the related story or publication, and how easily the entry communicates useful information to the reader.
