Sign spinning—outdoor guerilla advertising (and, some would say, performance art) in which surfboard-sized signs are balanced, juggled, and spun to draw passing motorists’ attention—has a new champ.

This February, Ray Rivera of Washington DC beat out more than 30 rivals in Miami to be named Aarrow Sign Spinning World Champion. In the event, co-sponsored by Aarrow Advertising, competitors were judged on style, originality, execution, and more. Rivera’s sign of choice was printed by Elite Signs in Orlando, using a Roland SolJet Pro III XC-540 printer onto Oracal Orajet media, laminated onto Coroplast. The 20 x 72-inch sign is edged with special Aarrow material to help prevent “spinjury.”
