Alien Skin Software has introduced Snap Art 4, the latest version of its software that transforms photographs into images that appear to be handcrafted, artistic works of art. Capable of rendering hundreds of styles and media – from oil paint and pencil sketch to watercolor and crayon – Snap Art 4 can mimic the techniques of human artists, such as layered brushstrokes and enhancement of important edges.

New features for version 4 include a redesigned user interface, a visual preset browser, and improved program speed; it can be used as a plug-in with host software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Apple Aperture, or as a standalone program.

Price: $99 ($69 for upgrade).
