Roland DGA has added a new VersaUV model to its lineup: the VersaUV LEC-330, which joins the company’s existing VersaUV LEC-300.

A 30-in. roll-to-roll LED-UV inkjet printer/cutter, the LEC-330 offers faster production printing than its LEC-300 cousin—up to 101 sq ft/hr—and a higher image quality, up to 1440 x 1440 dpi. This combination, reports Roland, makes the LEC-330 ideally suited for short-run production of labels and specialty graphics as well as prototyping applications.

Like the LEC-300, the 330 utilizes the company’s Eco-UV inks. It can be configured in a choice of three ink combinations: CMYK+ W + varnish; CMYK + W + W; or CMYK + varnish + varnish. The LEC-330’s Intelligent Ink Circulation System is designed to optimize ink usage and minimize waste.

Also like the LEC-300, the 330 can accommodate Metallic and synthetic papers, foils, BOPP, PE and PET film, and flexible substrates. In addition, because it features a redesigned hood, it can also support card stock, plastic board, polycarbonate, and other rigid substrates (except metals) up to 1 mm (0.04-in.) thick. And it can be used to create original patterns and 3D, domed corporate logos directly onto synthetic and natural leathers. Other applications include interior décor items such as customized window coverings and tapestries.

The printer is driven by the company’s VersaWorks 3.2 RIP, which allows users to manage up to four Roland devices simultaneously, and features a PerfCut function for precision perforated cut lines, dual or single-pass print modes for white ink applications, Roland Color for spot colors, variable-data capabilities, and more.

Price: $59,995 (the LEC-300 is priced at $52,495).
