Nikon Small World Competition Call for Entries

The 35th Annual Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, specifically for images taken through the light microscope, is accepting submissions for the competition through April 30, 2009. The competition is open to scientists, photographers and photomicrographers who can capture the beauty and art of life in science. Entries will be judged by top industry experts on a variety of criteria including originality, informational content, technical proficiency and visual impact. Entrants may use any brand of equipment to create their images.

First and second place winners with the top 20 photos will receive up to $3000 and $2000 worth of prizes of Nikon equipment, respectively. In addition, winning images will be featured at museums across the country as part of the Nikon Small World Museum Tour and the first prize winner will also receive international attention in leading scientific and general interest publications. In previous years, coverage has appeared in media outlets such as Nature, Popular Science, ABC News and Time Magazine.
