Mimaki USA has introduced the 74-in. Tiger-1800B digital inkjet printer for direct-to-textile or transfer dye sublimation printing. The direct-to-textile model has 16 printheads in a staggered array, while the transfer dye sublimation model offers 8 printheads. Both print at speeds up to 4144 sq ft/hr.

The system features an adhesive belt transport system with belt washing technology; an inline heat drying unit; a built-in PC with Mimaki’s TxLink3 textile RIP software; twin pressure roller shafts to uniformly transport textiles onto the belt through the rollers; wrinkle and media jam sensors; variable dot printing; and standard degassing module to reportedly reduce clogging. Optional upgrades include roll media centering; a jumbo roll unit (a standard feature in the dye sublimation model); plaited unit; and a drying and take-up unit for high density printed fabrics for the direct-to-textile version.
