The Hasselblad H1D is a medium-format, single-shot, 22-Mpxl digital camera. Images sizes range from 66 MB in 8-bit RGB to 132 MB for a 16-bit RGB image.

Since the H1D can be tethered to a computer (Mac or PC) or its images stored in its 40 Gb Image Bank, there is no need for memory cards. The Image Bank can hold up to 850 images and is powered either through the FireWire cable or with an L-size rechargeable battery (a fully charged battery allows for up to eight hours of computer-free shooting).

Images can be viewed on the 2-in. color display, which also features image browsing and zoom. In the studio, the automatic contact sheet allows for active image browsing with 100 images transferred every 2.5 sec.

The camera is compatible with all Hasselblad HC lenses. Shutter speeds range from 1/800 to 32 sec with and ISO speed of 50 – 400. Its Double Duration Circuit Technology allows the camera to run cooler, which is reflected in less noise in the images. The H1D also features auto-focus, histogram feedback on LCD, full-process color management, fast preview downloads, and FlexColor software.

Retail price: $21,995; the price includes body, viewfinder, 80mm lens, integrated 22-Mxpl back, Image Bank, and FlexColor software. It's available for shipping by November 2004.

In addition, Hasselblad has rebranded the Ixpress 132C and 96C; both are upgradable to multishot version and use the I-adapter concept, allowing them to be mounted on different camera platforms. The Ixpress V96C is a modified Ixpress 96C that features a fixed adapter plate for the Hasselblad V-System cameras and are single-shot only. The pricing on the V96C has been reduced to $9800.
