Group Logic has begun shipping version
3.2 of its user-based ExtremeZ-IP file and
print-sharing product. Improvements
include diagnostic options to help users
identify problems such as automatic
debug logs and “smart” problem detection
technology. There is also increased
gathering of statistics, such as numbers
of connected users, volumes, and files of
folders per volume.

ExtremeZ-IP integrates both Mac OS X
and Mac OS 9 and Windows XP Professional
and Windows 2003/200/NT Server
as well as Windows 2003 Storage Server.
It addresses cross-platform interoperability
and enables greater permission control
with the flexibility of using either Macintosh
or Windows permissions.

The company also has released an
OEM-only version of its ExtremeZ-IP for
Windows XP Professional. The product
includes the AppleTalk network protocol,
allowing RIP, OPI server, DAM, and workflow-
solution providers to fill the gap left
by Microsoft's discontinuation of Windows
2000 Professional OS and its
removal of AppleTalk from the replacement
Windows XP Professional OS.
