Golden Light Awards Entries Now Being Accepted

Entries are now being accepted for the 2004 Golden Light Awards, an international competition that recognizes the work of the world's emerging photographers. Organized and managed by The Maine Photographic Workshops, the Golden Light Awards will recognize the work and projects of seven emerging photographers, each in a different genre.

In the Photographic Project Award program, the genres include: Digital, Advertising and Commercial, Personal and Fine Art, Environment and Landscape, Portraiture, Travel, and Documentary and Photojournalism. Digital and film-based photography is accepted. Each winner in the seven categories will receive $1700 in tuition grants to The Maine Photographic Workshops, and other awards. Entry fees are $45 per project/portfolio.

In the Photographic Print Award program, categories include: Land and Landscapes, Environment and Nature, Architecture and Interiors, Families and Lifestyle, Still Life, Humor, Portraits and People, Personal Documentary, Photojournalism Story, and Holga and Plastic Camera. Each category winner will receive $500 in tuition grants to The Maine Photographic Workshops, and other awards. Entry fees are $30 per entry (up to eight images).

The Golden Light Awards jury will comprise three professionals within the field of photography, including magazine picture editors, book publishers, photographers, gallery directors, and curators. Deadline for all entries is October 4. (Golden Light Awards: www.goldenlightawards.org)
