EFI revealed two superwide UV-LED roll-to-roll printers at its annual Connect user conference last week in Las Vegas. The 138-in. Vutek 3r and 196-in. Vutek 5r feature proprietary 7-pL UltraDrop technology, inline finishing, and more.

The Vutek 3r prints up to 3715 sq ft/hr while the 5r model images up to 4896 sq ft/hr. Both offer a max. resolution of 1200 dpi with a standard CMYK configuration (cmk + white optional). A variety of white ink printing modes enable multilayer printing up to five layers.

Both machines feature a media handling system designed to minimize media waste; EFI reports only 16 in. are lost per roll. Users can choose an optional vacuum plate for thin sheets and rigid media up to ½ in. thick. A jumbo roll handling system for rolls up to 1653 lbs is also optional.

Additional optional features include a mobile operator station, wrinkle analyzer, an iPhone application, and more.
