Central National-Gottesman to Acquire Assets of Bradner Central

Central National-Gottesman Inc. (CNG) has agreed for its Lindenmeyr Munroe division to acquire the assets of Bradner Central Company, a family-owned paper merchant headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

“The addition of Bradner to our Midwest network, which also includes Lindenmeyr Munroe's Minneapolis branch, gives us the ability to provide an unparalleled level of product and service to customers and suppliers in the region,” says Andrew M. Wallach, CNG president. “This transaction, CNG's sixth acquisition of a US paper merchant in the past four years, demonstrates once again CNG's commitment to growing its paper distribution business, both organically and through strategic acquisitions.”

Bradner Central was founded in 1852 in Chicago as Bradner Smith & Company, and serves as headquarters for six subsidiaries that distribute printing paper and allied products to the commercial printing, retailer, advertising, magazine and catalog publisher, business-forms, direct-mail, and label industries.

Bradner Central Company is also a converter of environmentally sustainable products specifically engineered for wide-format and flatbed digital printing markets through its subsidiary, Converd LLC. Converd, however, was not part of the deal to CNG, as reported by Converd.

In mid-2013, Central National-Gottesman agreed to purchase Domtar’s Ariva business in the US and integrate this business into the company’s Lindenmeyr Munroe division. The company then agreed to sell the US Midwest portion of the Ariva business to the Millcraft Paper Company, a paper merchant based in Cleveland.

Ariva introduced a portfolio of branded wide-format print media in December 2012. The company’s wide-format offerings include: photo papers; backlit films; rollup films; sign and banner media; fine-art media; self-adhesive media; overlaminates; and more.
