Western Graphtec — the manufacturer of printers, vinyl cutters, scanners, and plotters — has announced that it is changing its name to Graphtec America, Inc. effective October 1, 2005. The company's management team remains intact, and company contact information remains the same.

“As the company focuses on its future and looks forward to continued growth,” said the company via a press release, “the need for a name change was apparent. In an effort to show the commitment to North, Central and South American markets and their customers, the company has made the decision to change its name to Graphtec America, Inc. The new name reflects the company's new direction and expanded horizon.”

Located in Irvine, CA, Graphtec America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Graphtec Corporation, which was begun in 1949. The company established its first overseas subsidiary, Western Graphtec, in 1979. In addition to its role in the graphics market, the company also manufactures precision recording and measuring instruments. (Graphtec America: www.graphtecusa.com)
