HP has added to its HP Scitex and HP Designjet portfolios with seven new printers.

The company has introduced its first Scitex-branded printers using HP Latex Inks: the 126-in. HP Scitex LX800 and 104-in. HP Scitex LX600. The Scitex LX800—the largest HP Latex Ink device—features roll-to-free-fall, roll-to-collector, and standard dual-roll (up to two 60-in. rolls) capabilities. The dual-roll kit allows users to print two different jobs at the same time; it accommodates rolls of varying widths and lengths. It also features HP Wide Scan Printing Technology, an Optical Media Advance Sensor, and an embedded spectrophotometer. The LX800 offers a resolution of up to 1200 dpi; its top speed is 1905 sq ft/hr in Draft mode (947 sq ft/hr in Outdoor mode; 484 sq ft/hr in High Quality and Production Plus 6-pass mode).

The Scitex LX600 offers many of the same features as the LX800, but the dual-roll kit is an option (not standard). Top resolution is 1200 dpi; it can reach speeds up to 1691 sq ft/hr in Draft mode (846 sq ft/hr in Outdoor mode; 418 sq ft/hr in High Quality and Production Plus 6-pass mode). Both the LX600 and the LX800 are 6-color (CMYKcm) devices; both can handle media up to 0.8-mm thick.

HP also introduced the HP Scitex FB500, a UV flatbed with a 64-in. print width, CMYKcm inks, and optional white-ink capabilities. Top resolution on the FB500 is 1200 x 600 dpi; it can hit speeds up to 398 sq ft/hr in Express mode (319 sq ft/hr in Outdoor Signage mode; 177 sq ft/hr in Indoor Signage mode; Outdoor Signage Plus mode with white ink speed is 85 sq ft/hr). It can accommodate media up to 2.5-in. thick. The FB500 also allows for remote monitoring via an HP embedded Web server and onboard camera.

The HP Scitex TJ8600, the company’s newest TJ-series UV printer, is designed for the high-volume sign and display market. Its new HP TJ210 Scitex inks (CMYKcm) boast higher elongation, improved flexibility, and reduced odor (compared to HP TJ200 Scitex Inks), HP reports, hence supports an extended range of applications, including fleet graphics and P-O-P apps. The printer can accommodate rollfed and sheet media up to 65-in. wide and 0.5-mm thick, and offers a resolution up to 600 dpi apparent; the user can choose from a range of full and selective gloss print modes. Top speed is 5166 sq ft/hr. A double-sided print option is available.

Also introduced is the new HP Designjet Z5200 PostScript printer. The 44-in. printer features 8 colors (CMYcm plus light gray, matte black, and photo black), a top resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi, and includes new HP Instant Printing Pro software designed to offer fast, easy file preparation and automate production tasks. Production speed is 445 sq ft/hr. The printer also features an embedded spectrophotometer, 160-GB hard disk, HP Designjet Excel Accounting Reports, and more; it’s compatible with HP’s new ColorPro papers.

The entry-level HP Designjet 111 printer is a 24-inch model that features a resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi and a top speed of 90 sec/pg (21.5 min/pg at 600 x 1200).
