Roland DGA has established additional strategic business units (SBUs) to better serve the company's growing customer base in the sign, vehicle-graphics, and broader graphic-arts markets. The additional SBUs will focus on three major areas of the inkjet business: Color Products, Supplies & Accessories, and Technical & Customer Services. The decision to establish three new business units follows on last year's formation of the company's Advanced Solutions Division (ASD) SBU, which is focused on the company's vinyl cutting, engraving and 3D solutions. As a result, reports Roland, it has since enjoyed record levels of growth across each of its product lines in that SBU.

Specifics on the new SBUs:
“? Color Products Division: Provides sales, marketing, and product management for the company's line of wide-format inkjet printers and integrated printer/cutters.
“? Supplies & Accessories Division, Color Products: Markets the company's line of tested and certified inkjet media and inks, including more than 50 products that have been selected and profiled for performance with the company's inkjet technologies.
“? Technical & Customer Services Division: Provides a full range of service and support programs for the company's inkjet product line; oversees all customer-service operations, and is responsible for ensuring a positive ownership experience for Roland customers.

To manage the SBUs, Roland has formed a new senior management team: Brian McLeod has been named managing director of the Color Products Division; Barry Johnston has been appointed managing director for the Supplies & Accessories Division; and Ron Ball has been named managing director of the Technical & Customer Services Division. Gerald Hiller will continue to manage Roland ASD as managing director.

“We are very enthusiastic about the new organization and about the future growth opportunities for each of these business units,” says Dave Goward, Roland's senior vice president and general manager.
