Roland DGA introduced the 64-in. VersaArt RE-640 printer. The new 4-color printer is the first VersaArt machine to incorporate the company’s new 8-channel, gold-plated printhead technology and features a dual CMYK mirroring to help prevent banding, variable droplet control, and Roland Intelligent Pass Control to further enhance image quality. Other features include: Eco-Sol Max inks (220 or 440 mL), an automatic maintenance printhead wiper, VersaWorks RIP software, integrated heating system, and more. A take-up system is optional.

The RE-640 offers resolutions up to 1440 dpi. Top speed is 249 sq ft/hr in Billboard Banner mode; High Speed Vinyl mode is 141 sq ft/hr. Maximum media thickness is 1mm with liner.
Price on the RE-640: $16,995.

In addition, Roland has added white ink to its VersaStudio BN-20 desktop printer/cutter, now available in a CMYK + white configuration. In addition, its VersaCamm VS printer/cutter is now available with two channels of white ink (the new double-white configuration requires a Benes OnlineDryer S, available from Roland).
And, Roland has partnered with Keen Systems (keenprint.com) to offer the latter company’s cloud-based e-commerce software to Roland users. The customizable e-commerce template includes pre-populated product images, product specs, and suggested retail prices, and has a variety of wide-format applications.
