The quest for work-life balance takes this shop owner from lounging on the beach to cheering on hometown sports teams.

Rob spends most of his time out of the office chasing his two young children around the soccer field or pool deck. He claims he doesn’t push the sign and graphics industry on them, but they both enjoy spending time in the print shop, working on decorations for their rooms and school projects.

His family enjoys attending live sporting events, and he keeps tabs on his hometown Buffalo sports teams. An annual beach trip with extended family provides a great opportunity to step away and reconnect with out-of-state relatives.

Though he feels like he is always on the clock, Rob does his best to leave work at the office and spends minimal time corresponding with clients and teammates after hours. This past year, the M3 team implemented new management software that makes it easier to check out when needed while still keeping tabs on future projects, he says.

Although reminiscing about M3’s roots is technically work-related, Rob enjoys that, too. “It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and not see the long-term growth,” he says. “Looking back one year, five years, 10 years, etc. to review shop photos, equipment, and facilities can reveal the impact you and the team have had on the organization and what you have accomplished.”
