Vermont PhotoInkjet announced a new ink formulation-ConeColor-complete with refillable cartridges for printers utilizing Epson UltraChrome K3 inks. ConeColor 'is a safer alternative than OEM for the environment, yet the color matches and it's pure 100% pigment for longevity,' says Jon Cone, president of Vermont PhotoInkjet.

The system is environmentally friendly because you don't throw away the cartridge after the ink is depleted. Instead, users simply refill the clear ABS-plastic cartridge time after time. The cartridge's semiconductor chip is reset with an included chip re-setter.

Designed to be a duplicate of Epson's UltraChrome K3 inks, ConeColor inks don't require any additional color management and can be used with existing ICC profiles. Using the same pigment technology as the company's Piezography K7, ConeColor inks are fade-resistant and compatible with Epson printheads.

ConeColor inks are available for Epson Stylus Pro 4800, 7800, and 9800 printers; an option for the Epson Stylus Pro 2400 is coming. Inks (CMYKcmk Light Light Black and Matte Black) are sold in 1-liter bottles; a set of refillable cartridges is also available.
