Mutoh has completed its trio of mild-solvent ValueJet printers with the addition of its ValueJet 2606. Big brother to the 48-in. 1204 and the 64-in. 1604, this 102-in. printer operates with six Epson printheads and a choice of 4- or 6-color Mutoh Eco-Ultra inks. The rollfed 2606 offers 10 print modes, resolutions up to 1440 dpi, and print speeds that top out at 185 sq ft/hr in Produc”?tion mode and 110 sq ft/hr in High Quality mode (540 x 720 dpi). A new Mutoh printing technology is its I2 Intelligent Interweaving Printing Technique, now standard on the ValueJet line. This technique virtually eliminates banding, Mutoh reports. By controlling which nozzles are fired and in which order, the image is formed in a wavy fashion, instead of the normal horizontal stripes. This technique increases the accuracy and consistency of the dot size, dot release, and dot gain, says the company, and, in addition, any problems are viewed more so as a “texture”? than as a straight banding. In addition, the ValueJet 2606 features individually controlled pre-, platen-, and post-heaters, and 3-yr outdoor durability. Price: $54,995. In other Mutoh-related news: “? Mutoh has also announced a partnership with Wasatch Computer Technology in which Wasatch has agreed to provide Mutoh customers with its RIP at a competitive price. The Wasatch SoftRIP software for Mutoh printers will support color and workflow features, permit up to four printers to run at the same time, and provide profiles for Mutoh printers. “? Franchise Services, parent company of Sir Speedy and PIP Printing, has signed a vendor agreement with Mutoh. Under this agreement, Mutoh has developed exclusive pricing on ValueJet printers for Sir Speedy and PIP Printing shops. MUTOH www.mutoh.com
