Microtek ScanMaker 1000XL Flatbed Scanner

The new Microtek ScanMaker 1000XL flatbed scanner is designed for use in production environments at corporations, advertising agencies, publishing houses, and service bureaus. This professional scanner is available as a ScanMaker 1000XL Pro with Transparent Media Adapter (TMA 1600) for scanning reflective and transparencies, and the standard ScanMaker 1000XL for reflective media only. The TMA includes a separate moving light source that provides uniform exposure for accurate color reproduction and shadow detail.

With a 41,300-element CCD and resolutions up to 3200 x 6400 dpi (interpolated to 25,600 dpi), the ScanMaker 1000XL machines will scan up to 12 x 17-in. reflective; the Pro version will also scan transparencies up to 12 x 16 in. In addition, the scanners are equipped with a variety of film templates to accommodate 35mm slides, 35mm filmstrips, 4 x 5-in. film, and medium-format films (from 6 x 4.5 to 6 x 9).

Other features include a 4.0 maximum optical density with 48-bit full color, multiple sampling (up to 16 steps), and Kodak Digital ICE software for reconstructing damaged photos. The ScanMaker 1000XL also includes ScanWizard software for direct scanning to RGB, CMYK, LAB, and indexed color. The Pro model includes LaserSoft Imaging's SilverFast Ai 6 software with NegaFix for superior negative film-scanning capabilities. SilverFast also helps in dust and scratch removal, grain and noise reduction, and selective color correction.

The ScanMaker 1000XL scanners list for less than $2700 each and will begin shipping in June.
