Kornit Digital has added two new models to its Storm line of industrial direct-to-garment printers for medium-sized apparel decorators. Storm Hexa and Storm 1000 both feature a new recirculating ink system, developed to reduce ink consumption and improve reliability. The pair also exhibits twice the number of nozzles as previous Storm machines; the company says productivity may increase as much as 40%. Print speeds can reach 170 garments/hr in high productivity mode, including inline pretreatment. Max. print area is 20 x 28 in.

The Storm 1000 features 12 printheads in a CMYK + white configuration while the Storm Hexa features 16 printheads, offering red and green in addition to CMYK + white for applications requiring more precise color.

Additional features for both machines include a quick replace pallet mechanism, a 4-L bulk ink system, an integrated humidity system, and a backup power system. The printers are compatible with a wide variety of fabrics including cotton, polyester, blends, denim, silk, and wool.
