HP Introduces Designjet 90 Photo Printer

18-in., 6-color series for proofing, designers, and photographers

Hewlett-Packard has introduced the
Designjet 90 printer series, an 18-in.
photo-quality printer series designed
for graphic designers, photographers,
and proofing professionals.

The 6-color printer (CMYKcm) employs
HP's dye-based Vivera inks, and can provide
resolutions up to 2400 x 1200 dpi. In
“normal” mode, it can reach speeds up to
4 min/pg on a 13 x 19-in. pg, and up to 6.3
min/pg on an 18 x 24-in. pg. It can handle
media in weights up to 80 lb as well as
rigid or thick media up to 0.02 in. A rollfeed
option can handle media up to 18 in.
x 150-ft long.

Additional features include: Professional
Pantone emulation, automatic
printhead alignment, Closed Loop Color
calibration, PostScript support (with
optional EFI Designer Edition 4.2 RIP),
and a modular ink system.

Estimated street price for the HP
Designjet 90 basic is $995; $1150 for
the Designjet 90r, which includes the
