One day, a PSP might use a roll-to-roll printer with dye sublimation and textile inks for interior décor, apparel, or soft signage. The next day, the same shop might employ roll-to-roll technology for printing signage and graphics with solvent or UV ink, or perhaps even water-based ink for fine-art applications. Summa S Class 3 Cutters


Features an OPOS camera with onboard image processing.

The Summa S Class 3 vinyl roll cutter series is designed for experienced users requiring top performance. With the T Series tangential cutting head, these machines use a motor to freely position the blade at the correct angle for the cut. According to the company, capability to lift, rotate, and move back into the media enables perfect corners by eliminating the influence of drag forces on the blade’s trajectory.

The S Class 3 series is also available with the D Series drag cutting head or TC Series performance cutting head. Other features include an OPOS (Optical Positioning System) camera with onboard image processing, barcode workflow with enhanced roll-up system, Smart Object Sorting feature designed to select the best starting point when cutting objects, user-friendly GoSign cutting software, and large media roll.

Mimaki UV-LED Roll-Based Presses

Designed with improved operational efficiency.

Mimaki USA has announced two new UV-LED roll-based printers, the UJV100-160Plus UV-LED and the UCJV330 Series of cut-and-print presses.

The entry-level UJV100-160Plus UV-LED is positioned as an energy-efficient printer with a max power consumption of 0.5 kW to reduce power costs and CO2 emissions, according to the company. The press offers the same functions as the original UJV100-160 plus ink saving function to reduce running costs, multi-layer printing function to expand application range, and integration with Mimaki CG-AR series cutting plotters. The 64-in. printer/cutter leverages CMYK + white + clear LUS-170 UV-LED inks.

The UCJV330 Series of cut-and-print UV-LED roll-based printers is designed for signage and graphics applications. Key features include ink ejection technology to reduce color irregularities, 2.5D print and watermark print functions, support for up to five-layer
printing, integrated cutting capability, CMYKcm + white + clear LUS-170 UV-LED inks, and instant-dry output for a variety of substrates such as PET, PU (polyurethane) and other resin films, cloth, and paper (including uncoated paper). The series offers two configurations, the 54-in. UCJV330-130 and the 64-in. UCJV330-160, plus production options including an XY Slitter and Media Changer.

Roland DG TrueVIS LG-Series UV Printer/Cutter

Vanguard Digital Printing Systems’ VKR3200-HS hybrid roll-to-roll printer leverages Kyocera KJ4A two-channel printheads and a high-speed electromagnetic drive system. Eleven new models added to series.

USA Canon has added 11 new entry-level models to its imageProGraf large-format inkjet press series: 36-in. TM-355/TM-350/TM-340 and 24-in. TM-250/TM-240 models, plus multifunction scanning configurations. Designed for applications such as posters and displays, the printers offer newly formulated magenta ink and water-resistant all-color pigment ink for long-term display, new L-Coa Pro II image processing engine for high-speed printing, flat top design for simple roll paper loading, and more.

EasyCut Studio has unveiled Easy Cut Studio v5.026 vinyl cutting software, now offering true shape nesting to improve multiple-objects-per-job arrangement to reduce material waste. Additional updates include bug fixes and support for several cutters, 10 new cutting drivers, and macOS 14.2 Sonoma and Windows 11.
