Workflow + Software

In response to a May 2016 announcement of a new nutrition facts label from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Esko has put together three workflow options for package printers who will face new labeling regulations.

Method 1 is designed for brand owners and printers whose data resides in various systems or in files. Users can create nutritional fact tables (NFTs) from scratch by entering data into templates, which are then centralized for review and approval before being placed into artwork.

Method 2, for users whose data isn’t digitally managed, features an Adobe Illustrator plug-in that provides NFT templates and inserts them into the artwork. Nutritional information can then be updated and routed for review and approval, while in the background, the plug-in centralizes the data for future updates.

Esko calls Method 3 full system integration, for users whose nutritional information is available in a structured fashion within other external systems. Users can automate the data collection, routing, and approval steps.
