Durst Doubles Size of Austrian Wide-Format Inkjet Production Facility

In late July, Durst PhotoTechnik AG officially opened the doors to a newly expanded multimillion-dollar facility that doubles the size of its current large-format inkjet printer production operations in Lienz, Austria. The facility also provides state-of-the-art workspace for the company's manufacturing and R&D activities. The new production facilities feature advanced, rail-based production lines similar to those found in high-tech automotive plants, says Durst, with an emphasis placed on workflow efficiencies and the proper integration of workstations.

The project, initiated in the spring of 2004, adds approximately 41,000 sq ft to the Lienz plant, where Durst produces its line of Rho UV flatbed inkjet printers as well as related equipment. According to the company, additional space accommodates Durst's growing R&D work in various aspects of production inkjet printing.

In other news, Durst has announced that it is establishing a sales and service operation based in Mexico City, to serve the growing Latin America large-format and package printing industries. Durst Image Technology Latin America SA will employ a team of sales and service professionals who are familiar with, and familiar to, the large-format imaging industry in Latin America. .

“Latin America “? especially Mexico and Brazil “? are definitely growth markets for digital printing, and Mexico is a gateway to the United States, satisfying approximately one third of packaging needs there,” says Piock. Durst will expand its Latin America team and support for its Latin America customer base as the market progresses, he says.
