ColorVision and Pantone have added Chinese and Japanese versions of their Spyder with OptiCAL package for monitor calibration.

ColorVision's Spyder colorimeter can be used with both CRT and LCD monitors; Pantone's OptiCAL software includes features for adjusting calibration parameters for a single monitor or for calibrating multiple monitors to a common standard. OptiCAL tools include gamma and color temperature targets, curve manipulation, precision and expert control modes, and information windows.

“We have a loyal and growing customer base in Asia including Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand, but feel there is untapped potential in Japan and Taiwan, as they are the leading sources for digital imaging products,” says ColorVision's VP, Brian Levey.

The new Spyder with OptiCAL CD will be delivered with English, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese versions of the software, installation guide, and manual. Free upgrades for all registered OptiCAL users are downloadable at the ColorVision website. The system is compatible with Windows? 98, 2000, XP; Mac 9x, OSX 10.1 or better (including Jaguar); and USB. Spyder with OptiCAL has a US list price of $388; a model that supports CRT monitors only is available for $221. (ColorVision Inc.: www.colorvision.com; Pantone, Inc.: www.pantone.com)
